No specific knowledge needed, however the course intended for PhD students who are close to graduation, with the intention of an academic career.

Learning outcomes for doctoral degree
The course is relevant for PhD students seeking an academic career after graduation, by training in proposal writing as an independent researcher. Thus is course is particularly relevant to the examination goal of “Demonstrate the ability to identify and formulate issues with scholarly precision critically, autonomously and creatively, and to plan and use appropriate methods to undertake research and other qualified tasks within predetermined time frames and to review and evaluate such work.” Moreover, as an MSCA project involves outreach and public engagements, the course is clearly relevant to the examination goal of “Demonstrate specialised insight into the possibilities and limitations of science, its role in society and the responsibility of the individual for how it is used”.
Course contents
This course intends to provide the participants with knowledge of the European Union Marie Sklodowska-Curie actions (MSCA), and training in writing a successful MSCA proposal. The course consists in three segments: 1) overview of the current MSCA funding schemes in Horizon Europe, with detailed information of as project setup, eligibility, financial aspects, and project management, with focus on the individual fellowship scheme, 2) structure and content of an MSCA proposal and evaluation process and criteria, and 3) training in writing an individual MSCA proposal.
Instruction
The course is given in form of lectures and seminars. The lectures are used to provide all relevant information of MSCA actions. The seminars are used to discuss and provide advice of (selected sections of) MSCA proposal text written by the course participants.
Assessment
Course examination is composed by assignments of writing (selected sections of) an MSCA individual project proposal) and doing peer review of the proposals under the guide of the course examiner.
