Abstract

In this talk I will share a mathematics teaching framework developed in a professional development project in South Africa, and successfully used with teachers for lesson planning and reflection. The strength of the framework lies in how it brings the mathematical intentions and/or actions into focus, enabling productive planning and reflection. The framework has been taken up and used elsewhere, including for initial teacher education, for example, in the PGCE at University College London. I will describe the framework and its underlying assumptions, and then illustrate its use with mathematical content for a lesson, accessible, I hope across grade levels of teaching
