The Baltic University Programme (BUP)
The Baltic University Programme (BUP) is a university cooperation with more than 120 participating universities located in ten countries in the drainage area of the Baltic Sea Region.
We foster education, research and cooperation in the fields of sustainable development and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) with a focus on our ten BUP themes.
We aim to support building strong regional educational and research communities, as well as organising academic events for students. We support the key role that universities play in a democratic, peaceful, and sustainable development.

CoMaDe Science on the Island winter school
This event, titled 'Science on the Island', is a winter school on the island of Gotland, where the participants will travel through the past, present, and possible futures of Baltic Sea coasts. The winter school will take place from 31 January to 6 February 2027 at Uppsala University, Campus Gotland, Sweden. Using Gotland as the classroom, the participants will explore how people and coastal environments have shaped one another over time.
BUP information and introduction meeting
All those interested in getting insight into what the BUP does and offers are welcome to this information and introduction meeting. This session aims to introduce the BUP’s work and to answer any questions related to the Programme. We invite you to join the online meeting on 12 November 2026 at 10:00 CET.
Webinar 'Sustainable Tourism and Cultural Exchange'
This webinar will be held on 5 November at 14 CET, and participants are welcome to contribute with questions to broaden the discussion. The event will explore how the changing socioeconomic environment influences tourism processes, which in turn bring about transformations in tourism ecosystems. This is the seventh webinar celebrating BUP’s 35th anniversary in 2026, dedicated to sustainability and the ten BUP themes.
