The Baltic University Programme (BUP)
The Baltic University Programme (BUP) is a university cooperation with more than 120 participating universities located in ten countries in the drainage area of the Baltic Sea Region.
We foster education, research and cooperation in the fields of sustainable development and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) with a focus on our ten BUP themes.
We aim to support building strong regional educational and research communities, as well as organising academic events for students. We support the key role that universities play in a democratic, peaceful, and sustainable development.

BUP Supervisor Training Week 2027
This Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) focusing on academic supervision will take place on 10-14 May 2027 in Uppsala, Sweden. The main aim of the week is to exchange knowledge, grow professionally, and further develop a strong collegial network of supervisors who collaborate, learn from one another, and share experiences in an interdisciplinary and intercultural environment.
BUP PhD Students Training 2026
This event is an opportunity for PhD students to become better acquainted with other academic perspectives. The participants are offered training in interdisciplinary research cooperation with the guidance of an international group of senior scientists. The PhD Students Training takes place on 23-27 November 2026 at Lodz University of Technology, Lodz, Poland.
BUP research news
Scholars at BUP participating universities are invited to share the results of their research for dissemination within the Programme. The research should have a connection to sustainable development in a Baltic Sea Region context. A researcher or research project will get highlighted on the BUP's LinkedIn and in the BUP Weekly. Information connected to the research, as well as about the researcher/s in charge, will be added.
