Prizes and awards within the Disciplinary Domain of Science and Technology:
Alireza Malehmir, Professor of Applied Geophysics in the Department of Earth Sciences, has received the prestigious Conrad Schlumberger Award 2024 from the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) for his “outstanding contributions to the field of near-surface geoscience and in particular challenges in mineral exploration and CO2 site-characterization geophysics”. The award ceremony took place on 10 June.
He is also one of this year's recipients of the ‘Attractive Innovation Project’ award from UU Innovation, who held a ceremony on 4 June.
Johan Åqvist, Professor of Theoretical Chemistry at the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology, has recently received the Computational Biology Award in Athens from the International Society of Quantum Biology and Pharmacology. He is the first Scandinavian to be awarded the prize by ISQBP, which was founded in 1970 by the famous Uppsala professor Per-Olof Löwdin, the father of Swedish quantum chemistry.
Anna Sakovich, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Mathematics, has been awarded the Uppsala University Distinguished Teaching Award 2024 in the area of mathematics, natural sciences and technology.
