Compensation for note takers

Sharing notes means that you share your own notes from lectures on a course with another student. The assignment runs during the semester and is linked to a student, for as long as that student needs your notes.

  • Notes should only be shared for the lectures where the student attended.
  • Every semester that you act as a note taker, the student must notify us.
  • If you are unable to take notes in a class you must arrange for someone to replace you.

Afterwards, you can get a certificate.

As a note taker, you receive compensation. To collect your compensation you will need to email your name, social security number (personnummer), email address, telephone number and the student's name to arvodenstudentstod@uu.se when you are starting your assignment.

The compensation

The compensation is 120 SEK/hour (plus a 12% holiday allowance). For tax technical reasons you need a Swedish social security number.

You are personally responsible for reporting your hours. Please remember that you must register your hours no later than the last day of the month to get paid on the 25th of the following month.

What entitles you to compensation?

  • The compensation you get is for sharing your notes – not for the note-taking itself.
  • You will get compensation for one hour per day for days when you have taken notes and shared your notes.
  • If you are sharing your notes with more than one student in the same course, you will get an add-on of 120 SEK per student and week. Please note that you must send separate time reports for each assignment/student.

We may ask you to also send in the current course schedule(s).

The first time you will receive compensation

  1. Register in "Primula": Register your personal details to get a temporary login code for Primula(Primula is the payment system at Uppsala University). It takes 1–2 days before your details are fully registered in the payment system; after that, you can start to report your activity.
  2. Register your bank account details: To have your compansation paid into your bank account, you must register your bank account details.
  3. Tax and tax adjustment: 30% tax is deducted directly from your compensation. If you do not want the tax to be deducted, you must request tax adjustment from the Tax Agency (Skatteverket).

Log in to Primula and report your time

When you have got your temporary login code for Primula you must register your hours in Primula to get compensation.

Tips for note takers

  • Write neatly, preferably with headings and subheadings.
  • Allow some space between the lines.
  • The easiest way is to write the notes on your computer and then send them by email. If you or the student want to make copies of your notes, contact your department for help.
  • Make sure to provide the notes after each class, on the same day. Come to an agreement with the student.
