Short presentation
My research areas include aesthetics, masculinity, affect, and modernity.
My doctoral dissertation Days Enchanted (2025) explores the masculinity of young Icelandic men—artists—through theories of aesthetics and affect. The dissertation notably examines the maxim “more style than substance,” which appears within Critical Studies on Men and Masculinities. Beyond being a study of men, it is also a study of the artist—a contemporary depiction of romantic subjectivity.

Biography
I have a joint-honours MA degree in Social Anthropology and Philosophy from University of Aberdeen, Scotland (2013-2017); during which I spent one year as a philosophy exchange student at Iceland University (2015-2016). Furthermore, I have a master’s degree in Cultural Anthropology from Uppsala University (2017-2018). I successfully defended my PhD thesis in Cultural Anthropology at Uppsala University in 2025.
