The Inauguration of Professors in Uppsala is a public ceremony at which the Vice-Chancellor installs new professors and the professors hold inaugural lectures. This tradition dates back to the Middle Ages. The inauguration and the separate inauguration lectures are open to the public.
Inaugural lectures at the inauguration
The Inauguration Ceremony takes place in a special programme on Friday 14 November at 15:00 in the Grand Auditorium.
During the Inauguration Ceremony, three of the new professors will give their inaugural lectures:
- Anna Michalski: EU som utrikespolitisk aktör i en geopolitisk världsordning - Europeisk diplomati i förändring (Faculty of Social Sciences).
- Christian Benedict: Varför sover vi? (Faculty of Pharmasy).
- Magdalena Larfors: Strängteori - Att knyta ihop det största med det minsta (Faculty of Science and Technology).
Separate inaugural lectures 10-13 November
Most professors to be inaugurated during the ceremony on 14 November will give their lectures earlier in the week, faculty by faculty.
- All lectures will be given in the University Main Building, in lecture hall IX.

- Tickets are required for the inauguration ceremony on 14 November and can be reserved below.
- No pre-registration or tickets are required for the separate inaugural lectures on 10-13 November.
