Uppsala University best in Sweden in new world rankings

Uppsala University is among the top 100 and ranks best in Sweden as QS World University Rankings 2011/12 ranks universities throughout the world.


QS World University Rankings 2011/12 ranks 700 universities throughout the world. The ranking is based on six indicators:
Academic reputation 40%
Employer reputation 10%
Citations per faculty (college) 20 %
Faculty students 20 %
International students 5%
International faculty 5%

The list is topped by Cambridge, Harvard, MIT, Yale, and Oxford. The University of Copenhagen ranks highest in the Nordic countries, in 52nd place. Second place in the Nordic countries goes to Aarhus University (79). In third place in the Nordic countries and best in Sweden is Uppsala University, ranked 83rd. Lund University occupies 86th place, and Helsinki University 89th.

QS World University Rankings 2011/12 has also carried out ranking for specific subject areas. Uppsala University is ranked 55th in life sciences and medicine, for example. Uppsala University is also highly ranked in terms of the specific ranking indicator ‘Citations per faculty (college)’ (43rd).
