A delegation from Rwanda lead by the Rt. Hon. Donatille Mukabalisa, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, and H.E. Christine Nkulikiyinka, Ambassador of Rwanda to the Nordic Countries, visited Uppsala earlier this week.

On Monday 14 November Deputy Vice-Rector Anna Singer, who supervises a doctoral candidate from Rwanda, and Vice Dean Jane Reichel welcomed the delegation. In her welcome speech, Deputy Vice-Rector Singer emphasized the good cooperation between the faculty and the School of Law. In response, the Rt. Hon. Donatille Mukabalisa thanked the faculty and its project coordination team for its strong commitment to the cooperation with Rwanda.

The visit took place as the Faculty and the School of Law, University of Rwanda, cooperate in a SIDA funded Sub-programme in Law aimed at strengthening legal research and education in Rwanda and foster links between the universities and their researchers.

The delegation was briefed on the cooperation between the faculty and the School of Law by the team leader, Prof. Daniel Stattin.

On the occasion of the visit, Ms. Mukabalisa - a lawyer by profession - gave a lecture on the topic 'Justice and its Role in Reconciliation in Rwanda'. After the lecture the delegation had the opportunity to engage in discussions and meet socially with academics from the university, PhD. candidates and students.
