Uppsala student received Global Swede award
Master’s student Gbemisola Allwell-Brown from the Master Programme in International Health at the Department of Women's and Children's Health has received a Global Swede 2017 award. The prize is awarded by the Ministry of Enterprise and Innovation and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the Swedish Institute, to international students in Sweden who have demonstrated excellence in innovation and entrepreneurship.
The Global Swede award is part of a long-term vision for building and strengthening relationships with international students in Sweden. For seven years now, the award has been presented by the Ministry of Enterprise and Innovation, in collaboration with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Swedish Institute.
The goal is to create a network to promote Swedish trade and benefit international and multicultural cooperation.
Uppsala University’s laureate Gbemisola Allwell-Brown, from Nigeria, is a student in the Master Programme in International Health at the Department of Women's and Children's Health. She was one of those who received a diploma on 10 May 2017 at a ceremony at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

“Gbemisola Allwell-Brown is a pillar in her peer learning group, as she acts as one of the best critical readers, giving excellent advice to her peers. She is innovative and problem-solving, and many students turn to her for advice, which she handles with great charm and good humour. Gbemisola Allwell-Brown has shown great motivation and curiosity for the subject as well as a good capacity for individual thinking and analysis. Gbemisola Allwell-Brown has received top grades in most of her courses and is considered one of the best programme students since 2007.”
Global Swede alumni are part of a wider network which currently comprises around 13 000 people from 140 countries.
