New honorary doctor at the Faculty of Law

Professor William E. Butler, active at Pennsylvania State University in the U.S., has been named an honorary doctor at the Faculty of Law.
William Butler is a professor at Pennsylvania State University. Butler has produced extensive jurisprudential works in comparative law, Russian and Eastern European law and international law. Among them are Soviet law and its successor Russian law, which were both published in several editions. Notable among his other monographs are Russia and the Law of Nations in a Historical Perspective (2009) and Russian Law and Legal Institutions (2014).
For several decades, Professor Butler has also contributed a large number of scholarly articles for journals and anthologies. He has also undertaken translations of Russian legislation into English. Professor Butler has also arranged and participated in high-quality international research conferences. He has had ties to researchers at Uppsala University for many years.
The conferment will take place in the University Main Building on 26 January 2018.
