On 1 June, the newly graduated law students of the Department of Law were awarded a diploma, evidence of their successful completion of studies, at a traditional graduation ceremony in the Grand Auditorium of the University Main Building.

The ceremony began with a welcome speech by Mattias Dahlberg, Dean of the Faculty of Law. He was followed by Henrik Witt-Strömer, executive member of the Alumni Foundation board, who gave a presentation of the Foundation and its work.

Other speakers included Iain Cameron, Professor of Public International Law, who gave a commencement speech to the graduating students. As Chair of SIFIR, the Swedish Institute for International Law, he also awarded SIFIR’s Public International Law Scholarship, which this year was awarded to students Svea Andersson and Else Welinder.

Kristin Melander presented the student speech, and the diplomas were given to the graduating students by Margareta Brattström, Head of the Department of Law.

Entertainment was provided by folk musicians V-Dala Spelmanslag and some members of the choir Uppsala Vokalensemble.

The day ended with dinner at Stockholms nation, organised by the Law Students’ Association in Uppsala.
