Funding from Forte for two long-term research centres

Uppsala University will receive long-term support from Forte for two research centres. A total of eleven research centres in Sweden are awarded support in Forte’s 2025 Research Centre Grants call.

The Research Centre Grant from the Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life and Welfare (Forte) is a ten-year grant to promote leading research and enhance societal benefits. This grant decision covers funding for the first six years of the centres’ activities.

The two research centres at Uppsala University receiving funding are:

Uppsala Centre for Preventive Psychiatry – A National Centre for Research on Early Identification and Intervention in Severe Mental Illness. The centre, led by Simon Cervenka, professor at the Department of Medical Sciences, will receive SEK 47 million.

WHOLE - Interdisciplinary Centre for Women’s Health Over the LifecoursE – at the intersection of reproductive transitions, mental health and pain. The centre, led by Alkistis Skalkidou, professor at the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health, will receive SEK 72 million.

In total, eleven research centres in Sweden are awarded grants in this call and will share SEK 620 million.
