The Department of Civil and Industrial Engineering
This department conducts research in industrial engineering and management, as well as civil engineering and built environment. The department also participates in a number of broader research collaborations and networks such as InnoEnergy and STandUP for Energy.
The Department of Electrical Engineering
Here research is conducted in electricity, solid state electronics, as well as signals and systems. The department runs or participates in several research centres and other larger collaborations both within and outside the University.
The Department of Information Technology
This department conducts research in a wide range of fields and hosts a number of important research centres. The department also runs research arenas that bring together researchers from different fields in information technology who share a common interest and facilitate easy collaborations.
The Department of Materials Science and Engineering
This department conducts world-leading research in materials engineering which, like the Master's programme in Materials Engineering, takes place at the Ångström laboratory – one of the most advanced laboratories for functional materials and energy in Europe. The department runs or participates in several research centres and other larger collaborations within and outside Uppsala University.
The Department of Earth Sciences
Here both basic research and applied research related to, for instance, process in air, water and landscape (Hydrology, Meteorology, Physical Geography and Environmental Analysis) is conducted.
