Why did you choose this programme?
– I have long been interested in leadership and find entrepreneurship very exciting. I have an idea that I would like to start my own company in the future, so I thought this programme could give me insight into what that might be like and, hopefully, help me learn skills that I can use in my future career. Another reason was the opportunity to go on exchange for one semester—something I have always wanted to do.

What is the best thing about studying at Uppsala University?
– I would say the best thing is how engaged the lecturers are in their subjects. It is very clear that each lecturer is selected for each course based on their specific interests, which makes learning much more fun and easier. I also really enjoy the international atmosphere in the programme, with a large number of exchange students in the class.

What is the most challenging part?
– In my opinion, it is reading and understanding such a large volume of academic articles. They make up a significant part of the programme, and I sometimes find it difficult to fully grasp what the articles are saying, largely due to the academic language, which makes it easy to lose interest. My tip is to take notes while reading the articles, as this forces you to engage with and understand the content, and to focus on the most important parts in order to grasp the overall message rather than getting stuck on details.

What three things are on your schedule this week?
– Attending lectures, studying together with my group to start formulating a business plan for the course we are taking, and meeting the class at a bar for a game night.

Tell us about student life!
– There are many opportunities for an active student life in Uppsala, with a wide range of events to attend. I did not complete my bachelor’s degree in Uppsala and unfortunately missed the introduction to the master’s programme. As a result, I feel that I did not get a natural entry into student life and that it can be difficult to become involved afterwards, as many people already have established friend groups. I am also not particularly drawn to it, since there is such a strong focus on partying. However, for students who are interested, there are plenty of opportunities. In that case, I would recommend getting involved from the very beginning.

What is your goal with the programme?
– My goal is to gain a deeper understanding of leadership, business, and entrepreneurship in order to figure out what I want to work with in the future. I also hope that it will make me more attractive to employers when applying for jobs.

What advice would you give to someone considering applying to this programme?
– My main advice is to make the most of your time and try to learn as much as possible to be better prepared for working life. For me, for example, it has been very valuable to practise presenting more naturally without a script—something our lecturer has encouraged. I also recommend familiarising yourself with the courses and starting to study as soon as they begin, to avoid feeling overwhelmed before exams. I would say this programme is very rewarding for anyone who wants to learn more about strategy, leadership, and entrepreneurship.

– Cosy cafés around the city!

What will you be doing in five years?
– I will probably be working with something related to leadership, strategy, intrapreneurship, and/or IT. I am curious about working as a consultant, where I can be involved in several different projects!

How did you choose your programme and what did you study before?
– I am from a business administration background and have worked for more than seven years in different sectors. In those years, I have managed projects, created branding guidelines, led public relations campaigns, and directed commercials. From my experience, I felt motivated to start my own entrepreneurial journey and decided that the Master's Programme in Business and Management – Entrepreneurship should be my next step.

What is it like to be an international student?
– It is a collection of emotions to be an international student. From the stress of early moving days to settling in for exams and partying in between with new friends, it is a journey that has taught me many things. One thing I can say about myself now is that I am more confident than ever because of this experience.

What is the best thing about studying at Uppsala University?
– One of the best things is being part of the prestige and heritage this institution has to offer. Uppsala University offers an amazing panel of teachers and the opportunity to team up with one of the finest pools of students. All these will support me in my future entrepreneurial life.

How did you experience your first few days in Sweden?
– My first few days in Sweden were a combination of excitement and exploration. I landed on a sunny day, but it took me a while to figure out everything, and I spent the night in a senior’s place. On the second day, it was time to get the keys and move in. The first week went in a blink while meeting new people in the corridor, going to many BBQs to socialise with even more people, visiting the nations, taking mandatory trips to IKEA, and figuring out ICA.

Describe what a normal day is like for you?
– A normal day for me includes waking up for the morning class, finding out at least two other corridor-mates in the kitchen, having breakfast together, then going for class, figuring out which library or study zone to be in today, coming back home for a late lunch, and in the end, if time allows, a visit to a nation.

What is something unique about your programme?
– My programme is unique in many ways, but particularly I have to mention the practical approach in the curriculum. We get to work on our own business idea and take a shot at developing a proper business in the process. All the courses are also designed in a way that supports the whole journey and guides us in every step.

How would you describe the relationship between you and your teachers at the university?
– The relationship between me and my teachers has been really pleasant. They have been supportive in every step. Their openness to listen to our ideas and motivating us to pursue them has been the most helpful.

What is your reason for studying and your ultimate goal?
– I have enrolled in the programme because it will provide me a guideline towards my goal. My goal is to have successful startups of mine and ultimately develop my own portfolio.

– There is a bench on top of a hill near Ekeby, sometimes I sit there, and that’s my favourite place.

What is your favourite student tradition?
– It is the Flogsta Scream; I think it has healing properties.

– I see myself running my portfolio of successful startups.

Why did you choose this programme?
– I was drawn to the practical elements of this programme, especially after experiencing a setback in my previous business venture. Coming from a non-business background, the MSc in Entrepreneurship seemed like the perfect fit, offering an accessible pathway to successfully kickstart a new venture.

What is the best thing about studying at Uppsala University?
– The highlight for me has been the engaging classroom environment shared with my peers, coupled with the city's picturesque setting. Uppsala University embraces a Swedish educational approach that feels both relaxed and empowering, allowing ample room for experimentation and hands-on learning experiences.

What is most challenging?
– Integrating into Swedish society and mastering the language is challenging. To overcome this, I maintain a focus on my long-term objectives, prioritising my studies, but have taken the time to study a bit of Swedish on the side.

What are three things on the schedule this week?
– This week, it's all about the thesis grind. Thesis, thesis, and, well, more thesis! (LOL).

Tell us about student life!
– As a mature student commuting from Örebro, my student life exudes a quiet yet consistent rhythm. I cherish regular catch-ups with campus friends via WhatsApp, maintaining a sense of connection despite the distance.

What is your goal with the education?
– I aspire to leverage this education to establish a thriving company contributing to advancing sexual health initiatives.

What advice and tips would you like to give to a person who is considering applying for the programme?
– 1: Dive into class sessions – that's where the real magic unfolds. 2: Forge meaningful connections with your peers – you'll be amazed by the brilliant minds surrounding you. 3: If an internship is on your radar, don't procrastinate – start applying early to secure the best opportunities.

How did you choose this programme?
– Sweden is renowned for innovation, and Uppsala University's master’s programme in entrepreneurship stood out to me as the most intriguing option. It’s a one-year programme and the University's esteemed reputation in Europe sealed the deal for me.

What is the best thing about studying at Uppsala University?
– The diversity among my fellow students is exhilarating. Coming from various backgrounds and countries, they bring a wealth of perspectives to our discussions, enriching our learning experience.

What is most challenging?
– One challenge I encountered was the requirement for Swedish language proficiency in many business-related jobs in Sweden. To overcome this, I dove into Swedish classes turning the learning process into an adventure of its own!

What are three things on the schedule this week?
– Busy week ahead! Crucial meetings for my thesis and business plan at Uppsala University Innovation, exploring Uppsala's nations on the weekend, and squeezing in some gym time to stay energised!

– Uppsala boasts a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem, with hubs like the Uppsala Innovation Center, Uppsala University Innovations and Drivhuset buzzing with engaging events and programs. It's a fantastic environment for networking and nurturing business ideas, creating a dynamic student life experience.

Why do you study, what is your goal with your studies?
– To create a meaningful impact by collaborating with startups, incubators, or established organisations to drive innovation and entrepreneurship, ultimately benefiting communities and society as a whole.

Do you have any advice for anyone considering applying for the programme?
– Prepare thoroughly by familiarising yourself with the course content, get your CV in top shape, and jump on internship opportunities early. This programme offers an excellent platform for internships and developing business plans, so make the most of it from day one!
