Aims

The course aims at giving basic knowledge of atmospheric processes relevant in an environmental engineering context.

Content

General meteorology: composition, average structure and the radiation budget of the atmosphere. Geophysical fluid dynamics, with emphasis on mixing and transport on scales ranging from millimeters to thousands of kilometers. Climate and the general circulation of the atmosphere: basic features and dynamics. Global change and climate modelling. The atmospheric boundary layer and turbulence. Exchange processes at the earth-atmosphere interface.

Instruction

Lectures, lessons and laboratory work.

Assessment

Written examination at the end of the course and passed laboratory course.
