General provisions

The content, length and level of the education are regulated by chapter 1, section 9 of the Higher Education Act 1 (1992:1434), by the Higher Education Ordinance (1993:100), and by the Ordinance on changes to the Higher Education Ordinance (2006:1053)

Entry requirements

Passed courses from term 2 and at least 15 credit points passed courses in term 3 of which a course should be constituted of school located studies.

Learning outcomes

After finishing the course, the students should be able to

- meet patients with respect regarding identity, integrity and autonomy

- understand the implication of assignments on X-ray referrals and be able to analyse and critically assess these

- inform patients and relatives

- identify physical, mental, and social needs in humans and adapt nursing and information accordingly

- create satisfactory nursing conditions and interact with patients

- interact with relatives and health-care personnel

- document on and recognise effects of administered drugs

- analyse and critically review X-ray images on the basis of existing criteria

- analyse and critically review other nursing activities

- describe the connection between patient preparations and examination results

- participate in the development of quality assessment within radiological activities

- handle and administer drug

- document measures in connections to X-ray examinations

apply

- constitutions and local guidelines

- radiation protection measures

- adequate hygiene procedures avoiding disease transmission

- principles of correct working postures and moving patient in connection to X-ray examinations.

independently

- prepare for and perform non-acute conventional X-ray examinations in adults

- handle existing X-ray equipment and other medical technical devices

- choose correct X-ray cassettes for different projections and correctly place side markers

- processing X-ray images in a digital system

- register patients in a radiological information system

Content

Clinical training in X-ray examinations of respiratory organs, skeleton, gastrointestinal- and urogenital tract, as well as specific study assignments.

Assessment

Assessment of participation and passed achievements in clinical work. Furthermore, passed evaluations on study assignments and passed achievements at seminars are required.

Students failing clinical training, have the right to participate in renewed clinical training, one more time.
