Entry requirements

Admitted to the X-ray nursing programme

Learning outcomes

After course Introduction to the subject nursing, the student should be able to:

* describe at a general level

- the history of the nursing and philosophic basis

- nursing as profession and academic subject

- the work of the radiology nurse

* understand and account for, and to concretise

- theories, models and concept that describes the nursing contents and field of activity

- some of the basic concepts within the nursing, namely man, environment, health and nursing acts

- the nursing process

- the importance of ethical and gender aspects, and diversity - equality perspective in nursing

- matters concerning violence in close relations

- the implication in the concepts of stress, coping and treatment

- the organisation and legislation of the health care

* understand and account for and under inspection

- help individuals with hygiene and meals

- carry out making beds and active transfers

- prevent complications of a bedridden state

- be able to apply hospital hygienic principles

- meet and reply to people in stressful situations

Content

- nursing as profession and academic subject

- theory of knowledge, nursing philosophy

- theories, models and concepts that describe the contents and domains of the nursing

- the consensus concepts man, health, environment and nursing acts

- the nursing process

- the work of the radiology nurse

- basic health care ethics and gender theories

- violence in close relations

- stress - coping - treatment

- the organisation, laws and regulations of the health care

- general nursing: personal hygiene, meals, making beds, active transfers, hospital hygiene and complications of a bedridden state

Instruction

Lectures, work in tutorial groups, role play, individual work, seminars and web-based teaching

Placement in the form of field studies.

Compulsory parts of the course: introduction to course/modules, scheduled group meetings, seminars, practical exercises, tasks with written submission.

Assessment

Examination takes place continuously during the course in the form of written and oral assignments individually and in groups. All items that are included in the course must be approved before the entire course is regarded as passed.

Other regulations

Regulations for retake

Student who has failed examination is allowed four re-examinations. (= total five examinations). After five failed examinations, the student can lose his guaranteed place in the education.

Every time the student participates in an examination counts, i.e. also submission of a so called blank exam. Submission of so called "blank" exam is counted as examination.
