Entry requirements
120 credits with at least 90 credits in Earth science or biology, alternatively, physics including 30 credits of Earth science (geophysics).
Learning outcomes
After completing the course the student should be able to
- present scientific research orally and in writing
- identify the requirements of presenting scientific research orally and in writing with reference to different target groups and apply them to scientific presentations
- assess various styles of oral and written presentations with reference to different target groups
Content
Lectures on the basic demands of and styles of oral and written presentations. The content of a scientific article. How to write a successful scientific article. How to avoid the most common linguistic and stylistic mistakes. Practical work with written and oral presentations in various scientific works, and how to referee a scientific manuscript.
Instruction
Lectures, obligatory individual written and oral presentations.
Assessment
Written and oral presentations must be approved.
