Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to give an opportunity to develop a stronger foundation for professional employment in earth sciences
After taking this course, the student should be able to
- apply advanced knowledge and methods of general significance for earth science activities in the practical workplace
- describe the host company or institutions activities in terms of wider significance, objectives and strategy, societal impact, organisation and regulations
- use the applied working methods of the work place
- demonstrate the ability to constructively receive instruction and cooperate with the supervisor and other staff at the work place
- present the work experience orally and in writing
Content
Participate in the daily work at the host company or institution under the guidance of a supervisor on site. The tasks must be related to the education in earth sciences.
Assessment
Written presentation of work performed during the internship.In addition the supervisor must submit a certificate about the student's participation.
Other directives
Finding a suitable internship is mainly the responsibility of the student. Before work placement begins, the internship, the supervisor and the work plan must be approved by the department.
