Learning outcomes
A student who successfully completed the course will be able to:
- describe theories, concepts and perspectives regarding migration and minorities in Swedish history.
- describe the relations between the majority and minorities in Sweden over time.
- describe and discuss multicultural aspects and their role in Swedish society.
Content
The purpose of the course is to introduce exchange students to concepts, theories and perspectives regarding migration, minorities and multicultural aspects in Swedish history. The focus of the course is on people moving to, from and within Sweden, and on relations between the majority and minorities, such as the Sami people.
Instruction
.Instruction takes form of lectures and seminars. The language of instruction is English.
Assessment
Students are assessed through the performance of written and oral assignments.
Students who have missed a small number of mandatory assignments may complete them by the end of the term at the latest. If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the University's disability coordinator.
