Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to

• describe various perspectives on entrepreneurship, sustainability, business development, and corporate social responsibility (CSR),
• critically discuss different ways to manage value and value creation from an ethical and sustainability perspective,
• analyze the advantages and disadvantages of working in local networks of actors involving authorities, organizations, and companies,
• present a plan to start a business based on a business idea, according to the Lean Startup model,
• present a business model, including an implementation plan, for a new product or service that considers ecological, economic, and social sustainability throughout its lifecycle, as well as CSR directives.

Content

Foundations of entrepreneurship, sustainability, innovation, and sustainable development. Various perspectives on values and value creation for sustainable business. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) and its role in the strategic development of companies. CSR directives. Tools and methods for starting, developing, and further developing businesses, also for developing and further developing products. Lean Startup. Customer analyses, market segments, and segmentation as a basis for defining target groups in companies. Market communication and analysis of results as a basis for leading and further developing businesses. Examples of collaboration with strategic partners (authorities, organizations, and companies) for starting companies and sustainable business development.

Instruction

Lectures, guest lectures, seminars, workshops, study visits and supervision of project work.

Assessment

Active participation in seminars, workshops, and study visits (7.5 cr). Written and oral presentation of project work (7.5 cr).

If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding targeted pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
