General provisions
The course will introduce students to the theoretical and practical background to methods of dissemination, communication and public interaction with digital cultural heritage. The course will cover ethical, legal, methodological and conceptual issues concerning communication, dissemination of science results as well as public outreach, in the context of professional best practice.

Learning outcomes
After passing the course, the student should be able to:
- Identify and descibe current best professional practice in digital documentation methods, and the ethical and legal issues surrounding the use of digital capture and communication.
- Describe different digital documentation methods, their limitations and strengths, and be able to discuss their usefulness in different situations.
- Work with a project, individually or in pairs.
- Present a project work in speech, writing and visually.
- Formulate a communication plan within the topics archaeology/bioarchaeology/conservation with help of digital communication methods.
- Apply the technical skill in or more digital visual communication methods, and independently conduct a digital visual/communication project.
Content
The course will assume a degree of familiarity with methods of 2D and 3D modelling of cultural heritage, and will therefore focus on how digital methods are used to convey information about cultural heritage and past. The course will cover applied methods of analysis and presentation of digital heritage data, including the use of digital twins in planning and public engagement, platforms for public and professional data sharing, Virtual
and Augmented Reality (VR & AR), and the use of digital data in museums, game design, and the entertainment industry (TV and cinema).
Instruction
Instruction consists of lectures, supervised exercises and tutoring individually and/or in groups. Instruction is given in English and Swedish.
Assessment
Examination is in the form of exercises with exercise reports, as well as oral, visual and written presentation of individual projects.
Examination will be in English or in Swedish.
If there is a special reason for doing so, an examinator may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of a special reason might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the University's disability coordinator.
Transitional provisions
The course is identical to module 2 of the course Material cultural heritage: documentation and digital methods, 30 hp, 5AR031, and cannot be included in the same degree.
