Entry requirements
60 credits within any engineering programme. 15 credits in mathematics. Participation in Computer Programming I, whereof 2 credits should be completed.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, students should be able to
- describe project management models and theories such as agile and extreme for software development,
- describe key principles of XR technologies and discuss advantages, limitations and, system requirements of various XR tools in industrial settings,
- use appropriate data pipelines and solution architectures for XR software applications,
- develop basic XR applications using available tools suitable for industrial purposes,
- define, plan and execute a structured project together with other students, within given parameters and proceeding from a generally stated problem, and reflect on and develop the cooperation of the group throughout the project lifecycle,
- present project outcomes and provide feedback on other students' work.
Content
_Introduction to XR Technologies: _Overview of XR technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR), and applications. Introduction to tools for XR development.
_Project Implementation and Deployment: _Basics of real-time data acquisition from industrial systems. Data pipeline usage and implementation for XR applications.
_Applications of XR in Industry: _Remote collaboration and maintenance in industrial settings. Data visualisation and analysis for industrial operation.
Instruction
Lectures, seminars, workshops and, supervision of project work.
Assessment
Written and oral presentation of project work and also written and oral opposition on a project presentation from another group of students (4 credits), active participation in seminars and workshops (1 credit).
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding targeted pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
Other regulations
The course cannot be included in a degree together with 1TS334 Industrial Project with Extended Reality or 1TS361 Industrial Project with Extended Reality.
