Pär Segerdahl
Associate professor of philosophy and editor of Uppsala University’s Ethics Blog. Researches how philosophy can support thoughtfulness in debates about ethically sensitive issues, and chairs the research seminar.
Pär Segerdahl examines how philosophical thinking can contribute to more open and less polarized debates about ethically sensitive issues. He is associate professor of philosophy at Uppsala University and at Åbo Akademi University and has previously investigated ideas about the nature of language and the human-animal relationship. He has investigated debates about, among other things, embryonic stem cell research and animal welfare, and how a philosophically more self-examining approach can open up possibilities that are not visible in discussions for and against generally formulated positions. As editor of The Ethics Blog and Etikbloggen, he is involved in research communication and he also chairs the CRB research seminar.
