Dr. Abdul Alim is an immunologist focused on cancer immunology and inflammation, particularly mast cells and T cells in lung metastasis/cancer. He earned his PhD in Medical Science at Uppsala University. He has explored his post-doctoral research across multiple institutions, including the University of Cambridge, Karolinska Institute, Linköping University, and Örebro University. He enjoys research with good collaboration, new discoveries, and hobbies like gardening, fishing, and badminton.

Research
Dr. Abdul Alim’s research explores the intricate crosstalk between the immune system and cancer, with a particular emphasis on the roles of mast cells and T cells in the development and progression of lung metastasis. His work seeks to uncover how immune-derived steroidogenic pathways, shape immune regulation within the tumor microenvironment and influence metastatic colonization.
Through a combination of cellular immunology, molecular biology, and translational approaches, Dr. Alim aims to define new immunoregulatory mechanisms that could be harnessed for therapeutic innovation. By bridging fundamental immunology with clinically relevant lung cancer/metastasis models, his research strives to identify novel targets that could improve treatment strategies for cancer metastasis, inflammation, autoimmunity and diabetes wound/tendon healing.
Driven by curiosity and collaboration, Dr. Alim’s work contributes to a growing understanding of how immune cell plasticity and metabolism influence disease outcomes. Ultimately, his goal is to translate immunological discoveries into effective interventions that promote long-term immune balance and better patient outcomes.
