SWEDESD and partners are facilitating a number of dialogues and workshops at the upcoming World Environment Education Congress (WEEC) in Gothenburg, Sweden, entitled People and Planet -How Can They Develop Together?

The 8th WEEC is taking place from 29 June to 2 July. This is a bi-annual international event where practitioners and organisations working with education and learning for environment and sustainability can share ideas across borders.

Four events are organized to address policy, research and practice related to education for sustainable development.

One workshop invites participants to draft a policy brief on challenges and opportunities for the National Focal Points, as suggested by UNESCO to help implement the Global Action Programme (GAP) on ESD.

This workshop will be followed by a plenary session on the GAP, presenting the framework itself and examples of global, regional and national implementation plans and strategies.

Additionally, two round tables will share and discuss results from SWEDESD’s programmes and projects including a strategy for mainstreaming ESD in teacher education institutions developed in collaboration with the Southern African teacher educators network, and a toolkit for multi-stakeholder collaborative social learning developed in a European project for urban sustainability.
