Old master drawings available through Alvin
Old Master Drawings in Uppsala University Library’s collection are now available through digital cultural heritage platform Alvin.
Uppsala University’s collection of old master drawings consists of just under 500 works, of which about 190 are Italian, just under 100 are Dutch and just over 80 are German or French. There are also a handful of drawings by Danish and English artists in the collection.
The collection originated with the donation by General Major Carl Hård af Segerstad (1768–1840), and has since grown through additional donations and acquisitions.
While cataloguing the collection, the library was unable to conduct an in-depth analysis of all the works. This means that attributions, subjects and provenances in the catalogue should not be viewed as final. The library is grateful for any new information and suggestions about the old master drawings collection that can be offered.
