Framework for Teaching and Learning at Uppsala University
The new revised version of the Framework för Teaching and Learning at Uppsala University: Aims and Visions for Educational Activity and Development was adopted by the Vice-Chancellor in September 2025.
The document is a collegially developed framework for educational development. It highlights the importance of dialogue and collaboration between teachers and students in teaching and educational development. The framework consists of four parts:
- Conditions for student learning
- Development of education
- Professional development in academic teaching and learning and subject didactics
- Value of teaching as a career qualification
The Framework för Teaching and Learning is available in a web-based format in Policies and regulations. It can also be downloaded as a print-friendly version pdf, 3 MB.. pdf, 3 MB.
The support material The Framework för Teaching and Learning in Practice is available for all staff in Studium. It contains short introductions to each section of the framework, resources and references. It also includes practical examples and interviews with teachers and other staff at Uppsala University who work in accordance with the programme. The material is intended for individual as well as for collegial development, and it can serve as a useful starting point for development work at both course and programme level.
The student guide pdf, 3 MB. (in Swedish) has been developed by Elsa Ewert, Chair of Uppsala Student Union 2024–2025, and Sigrid Welin, Chair of the Pharmaceutical Student Union. The guide is aimed at all students at Uppsala University studying at the bachelor and master level. It presents the framework from a student perspective and offers relevant information and practical advice for students at Uppsala University.
