The Independent Distinguished Teaching Award 2025

The Intependent Distinguished Teaching Award recognises educational achievements in an area chosen for special priority each year. The prioritised area in 2025 is “Belonging and participation”.

Nominations should include a clear and specific description of how the nominee’s educational activities have developed an inclusive pedagogy that promotes students’ sense of belonging and participation, irrespective of background.

In addition to the regular nomination criteria, to qualify for this year’s theme, nominees must have engaged in educational development and/or teaching/supervision that has developed, implemented or contributed to an inclusive pedagogy that supports new students, students midway through their studies and/or students transitioning to advanced- and research levels of education. This pedagogy must have encouraged a clear sense of belonging for the students.
