New feature in Studium – tag students
You can now use tags to create your own categories of students within a course in Studium. Tags can, for example, be used to allocate students to different teachers or supervisors, assign content to selected students, or make marking easier.
Tags are only visible to teachers and administrators in the course. Students cannot see which tags have been assigned to them.
Examples of how you can use tags:
- Divide marking between teachers. If several teachers are marking the same assignment, students can be tagged according to the teacher responsible for marking their work. Each teacher can then filter the Gradebook and SpeedGrader to display only their students.
- Allocate students to supervisors. Tag students according to the supervisor responsible for them.
- Assign content to selected students. Assignments and other course content can be assigned to students with a particular tag.
- Communicate with selected students. Tags can be used to send messages to a particular set of students
Tags, groups or sections?
Tags complement groups and sections in Studium. Groups are used when students need to work together, for example on a group assignment, while sections are primarily used for administrative divisions of students. Tags are useful when teachers need to create their own flexible categories of students within a course.
