Microsoft 365 (M365)
Employees at Uppsala University have access to a range of tools, programs and applications included in the Microsoft 365 (M365) service suite.
These tools are cloud‑based and offer a wide variety of uses. In addition to standard digital office tools such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel, M365 also provides services for storing files and documents, collaborating and sharing information with others, as well as AI.

To sign in to Microsoft 365, the university’s Joint Web Login and Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) are used.
Sign in to M365
- In the login window, enter your email address. The system will then guide you through the login process.
- In the next step, you sign in using MFA/two‑step authentication via the Microsoft Authenticator app.
- Follow the guide to activate MFA for the first time.
What is included in Microsoft 365?
Microsoft 365 includes several different tools. Uppsala University provides employees with access to a selection of these, listed below.
Share and collaborate – Sharepoint
Sharepoint is a platform for creating internal web spaces, sharing documents and building structured information management. The tool is used to support collaboration and to keep materials organised and easily accessible.
Personal storage
– Onedrive
Onedrive is a cloud‑based storage service where you can save, sync and share files securely. It provides easy access to your documents from any device, along with version history and backup functionality.
AI Assistance – Copilot Chat
Copilot Chat is an AI‑based chat tool that can assist with a wide range of tasks based on the questions and instructions it receives from the user. For example, it can help summarise, write, analyse or improve texts.
Office applications – Office for the web
The Office suite includes applications such as Word, Planner, Excel, Forms, Onenote and Powerpoint – tools for text, data, notes, presentations and communication.
Information classification
Microsoft 365 has been classified with CIA value 222. This applies to all Microsoft 365 tools, including for example data stored in OneDrive or files uploaded to Copilot Chat.
Information and data that may require higher protection include, for example, research data and research results. You can read more about different storage solutions here.
