About the course
The course provides a basic understanding of the city's development and sustainability with perspectives from technology, ecology and art science, including architecture and with a specific focus on technical and green infrastructure. Through hybrid lectures and weekend excursions in Uppsala, the modern city is studied, with a focus on how the perception of the city has changed, the challenges we face and today's solutions for a sustainable built environment. Examples of current topics that are touched upon are the integration of green infrastructure, ecosystem services, transport, energy solutions and water management. In seminars, the vision of a sustainable city and the challenges and dilemmas that different solutions can entail are discussed. The course ends with an individual project where a subject from the course is studied in depth.
