About the course
Since the 1970s, theoretical developments in the field of gender studies have been both extensive and multi-faceted. Departing from feminist theory, this course aims to introduce influential theoretical discussions about sex and gender, examine different understandings of these core concepts, and see how they intersect with other aspects of power and embodiment related to questions of race, sexuality and ability, among others. During the course, a selection of different theoretical perspectives are examined, problematised, and positioned in relation to one another to identify how they diverge and develop over time.
