Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, students should be able to
- carry out basic process analyses for industrial processes,
- diagnose the current state of technology-linked processes using relevant measures, including measures related to sustainability,
- apply the process approach to different types of processes by establishing basic process management,
- give an account of the structure and contents of the various ISO management systems for quality and environment, and be able to interpret the requirements for implementation,
- use quality and environment standards to develop a technical organisation or industrial company,
- plan and carry out an audit of management systems for quality and environment according to ISO 19011,
- give an account of how an integration of the management systems for quality and environment can be implemented and integrated, and can support sustainable development in an industrial company's operations.
Content
Part 1: Process management (3 credits)
Process management for describing the current organisational situation and for identifying improvement possibilities, with a focus on technology-intensive environments. Measures and measurement points, including measures related to sustainability. Advantages and disadvantages of the process-based approach. Part 2: Management systems (2 credits)
Basic concepts and definitions for management systems according to ISO. Application of Quality Management Systems ISO 9001 and Environmental Management Systems ISO 14001. Introduction and integration of Quality Management Systems ISO 9001 and Environmental Management Systems ISO 14001, with a focus on technical organisations or industrial companies. Audit according to Guidelines for auditing management systems ISO 190011.
Instruction
Lectures, exercises and seminars.
Assessment
Part 1: Written exam (1 credit) and case studies and written assignment (2 credits).
Part 2: Written exam (1 credit) and written assignment and active participation in seminars (1 credit).
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding targeted pedagogical support from the university's disability coordinator.
