Entry requirements
130 credits in science/engineering. Engineering Materials or Introduction to Materials Engineering. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course the student shall be able to:
- plan for and use different principles for additive manufacturing,
- assess opportunities and limitations with additive manufacturing,
- describe how additive manufacturing affects the design of components,
- explain how the additive manufacturing affects the structure of the material and the properties of components,
- demonstrate skills in practical steps in additive manufacturing.
Content
The course presents different concepts for additive manufacturing in materials from different material classes. The processes' needs for different types of feedstock as well as how these are produced are presented. The design for additive manufacturing and the preparation steps before printing are presented and practiced. Needs and possibilities for post-processing as well as methods for quality assurance are also discussed.
Instruction
Lectures and laboratory work.
Assessment
Written examination (4 credits). Laboratory work (1 credit).
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
