Learning outcomes
On completion of the course the student shall be able to:
- account for and reflect on the historical development of physics
- summarise, reflect on and discuss current governing documents for physics education at upper secondary school level in Sweden
- reflect on teaching and learning, especially in physics, in relation to didactic perspectives and models
- account for and handle questions about assessment and grading in the subject
- use information technology for their own and others' learning, especially in physics.
Content
Cultural and societal aspects of physics history. Scientific education, especially in the subject of physics. Physics education research as a field of science.
Governing documents for physics education at upper secondary school level. Adaptation of physics teaching for different target groups. Assessment and grading. Communication skills
Different perspectives on learning and teaching and how they can shape ways of relating to one's own and others' learning. Cognitive principles for learning and teaching physics.
Student-centered active learning approaches to education and research-based instruction. Information technology and digital tools to support teaching and learning of physics. Participation in, observation of and reflection on different forms of teaching.
Instruction
Seminars, lectures and practial exercises.
Assessment
Active participation in seminars and practical exercises. Written hand-in problems.
