Biografi

During my clinical professional career I have always had a special interest in international pediatric infectious diseases and tropical medicine, particularly in resource limited settings. My specific training in infectious diseases and tropical medicine combined with long-term clinical experience both from Asia (Pakistan) and Africa (Zimbabwe) have all toghether been a great advantage when developing my research career over the last decade.

My research activities have over time involved both clinical, epidemiological, experimental and qualitative studies within the field of international child health, with a clear focus on a leading cause of child morbidity and mortality globally, namely malaria. My research activities have since 2005 to date resulted in approximately 70 original research reports. My scientific strength is the diversity of my work, i.e. that I have combined different methodologies and actively participate in various research-networks/consortia.

I am presently professor and head of research of international child health and nutrition at International Maternal and Child Health (IMCH), Department of Women’s and Children’s Health, Uppsala University.
