Vice-Chancellor
The head of the University as a public authority, with overall responsibility for operations, subject to the terms of reference and guidelines established by the University’s governing board.
Sits on the University Board and leads the work of the University Management Team.
Anders Hagfeldt has been appointed by the Swedish government for the period 1 January 2021–31 December 2026.
The University Board has proposed to the government that Anders Hagfeldt should be reappointed for a further three-year period.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor substitutes for the Vice-Chancellor and takes the Vice-Chancellor’s place when the latter is not on duty, and to whatever extent the Vice-Chancellor decides.
Part of the University Management Team.
University-wide responsibility for education and quality issues.
Chairs the Library Board, the Disciplinary Board and the Course Classification Committee.
Coco Norén has been appointed by the University Board for the period 1 January 2021–31 December 2026. The University Board has decided to reappoint Coco Norén for a further three years, provided that Anders Hagfeldt is reappointed by the government.
University Director
The University Director is head of the University Administration and part of the University Management Team. The University Director is responsible, under the authority of the Vice-Chancellor, for managing and developing the administration of the University.
Caroline Sjöberg has been University Director at Uppsala University since 2020.
Vice-Rectors
The vice-rectors are in charge of the disciplinary domains and each chairs their own disciplinary domain board. They are members of the University Management Team and participate in University-wide undertakings.
The current vice-rectors have been appointed by the Vice-Chancellor for the period 1 July 2023–30 June 2026.
Vice President for Research
A member of the University Management Team, deals with University-wide issues relating to research ethics, research infrastructure (after October 2026), open science and research funding.
Represents the University in both national and international contexts.
Takes the lead on University-wide research issues on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor.
The current Vice President for Research, Eva Tiensuu Janson, has been appointed for the period 1 February 2026–31 December 2028.
