About the course
Target group
Doctoral students at Uppsala University regardless of whether you envision a career within or outside academia. Doctoral students across all disciplines at Uppsala University are welcome to apply.
Aim
The aim is to give participants the motivation and resources to take charge of their careers, whether they do not yet know their preferred path or they already have a goal and are looking for the best way to reach it.
Content
The course first guides you through a short, private self-assessment process so that the career plan you go on to develop aligns with your strengths and preferences. Practical exercises and downloadable tools help make sure your plan captures both career destionations and specific actions that will focus your efforts and accelerate your progress. No fee, no credits
The programme is free of charge for participants and is financed centrally by Uppsala University. The programme does not award points/credits or lead to a formal qualification, though a certificate of participation will be available on request to add to your CV. Taking the course does not qualify a participant for an extension of a doctoral studentship (förlängning).

Format
Four modules (e-classes)
Four modules, in a choice of online text, downloadable PDF and audio formats. One new module is released every two weeks, involving a commitment of about two hours each on average.
You can complete the e-classes wherever you are, when and how it best suits you (online, downloadable PDF or audio versions). Once an e-class is published, you have unlimited, ongoing access to it and all the other programme resources. Each e-class is estimated to take between 1-2 hours to complete.
Three Webinars
Three webinars of around 45 minutes each are given in the programme, to allow for live discussion of your questions, career strategies, pathways and key skills to support your progress. A buddy-system is offered as well.
