New AI tool for creating MCQs in Studium
This new feature supports the creation of multiple-choice questions in New Quizzes.

Canvas already includes some AI features, such as discussion summaries and a search tool. This new feature is an AI function aimed at teachers working with quiz questions. The feature is called IgniteAI Question Authoring for Quizzes and can be used to create draft multiple-choice questions directly in New Quizzes.
The teacher can base the questions on course material, their own text or an uploaded file. It can be prompted with instructions, for example about the topic, the intended level and the language to use.
The AI tool then generates up to five multiple-choice questions that the teacher can review, edit or regenerate before adding them to the quiz. The feature can used as support in the early stages of question design, but does not replace the teacher’s subject knowledge or pedagogical judgement.
Please note: This feature is a preview and must be enabled in the course settings before it can be used. It works in New Quizzes and currently applies only to multiple-choice questions. AI-generated questions should always be checked by the teacher before being published to students.
