About the course
This course discusses modern methods organic chemists use to build up molecules. The focus is on developments that have attracted considerable attention in recent years, that have solved important challenges in synthesis (e.g. chemo- or regioselectivity) or works in ways that go beyond typical textbook literature.
At the end of the course, you should be able to discuss several modern ways to form new C-C and C-heteroatom bonds in the context of organic synthesis. This includes selecting appropriate reactions in the context of planning a synthesis or solving a problem, discussing its mechanistic aspects and independently searching the research literature for relevant information.
The courses Coordination and Organometallic Chemistry and Modern Methods in Organic Chemistry are scheduled to be taken together.
