120 credits in science/engineering including Automatic Control I. A basic course in Power Engineering, such as Power Engineering, Electromagnetism and Power Engineering should have been attended. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.

About the course
The transmission network and the structure of the distribution network. Load flows and losses. Signal-box and switching equipment. The electricity market. Introduction of renewable sources to the grid. Stability and regulation methods. Voltage, frequency and small signal stability. Compensation equipment and transmission of high voltage direct current (HVDC). Flexible AC Power Transmission System (FACTS), reactive power compensation with Static VAR compensator (SVC) and Static synchronous compenstor (STATCOM). Accessibility and vulnerability.
