Housing for international students
The demand for rented housing in Sweden is high, making it challenging even for Swedish students to find accommodations. Therefore, it is important to begin your research early and explore your options. If you are a fee-paying student at Uppsala University, you are guaranteed housing. However, if you do not pay tuition, you will need to find your own accommodation.
Fee-paying students
If you are a fee-paying student, meaning you are a citizen of a country outside the European Union, European Economic Area, or Switzerland, you can take advantage of our housing guarantee.
This guarantee ensures that, as long as you apply for and accept your offer on time, Uppsala University's Housing Office will provide you with a student dormitory room. Please note that you will be responsible for paying the rent. The housing guarantee also applies to scholarship recipients.
Non-fee-paying students
If you are a non-fee-paying student from an EU/EEA country or Switzerland, you will be responsible for arranging your own accommodation while studying at Uppsala University. The process of finding housing can be very competitive. Demand for accommodations is highest during August and September, so it is important to start your search early. Make sure to invest time, energy, and thought into finding a place to live.
