Jason Crawford

Jason Crawford is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Business Studies, Uppsala University. His research focuses on the relationship between strategy and operational decision-making in financial institutions, more specifically the relationship between strategy, risk management and management control systems as well as their integration.

Jason Crawford is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Business Studies Uppsala, specializing in Accounting. He received his Ph.D. from the Department of Business Studies, Uppsala in 2017, and his Master of Science Degree in 2012. He has worked for several years outside academia in various positions. His research is broadly focused on regulation, strategy, risk management and management control systems in the banking industry. In 2018 Jason was awarded the Wallander Scholarship for his research on risk management. He currently is involved in a number of research projects that are generously financed by national research foundations, which examine the relationship between strategic and operational decision-making in financial institutions. He is also involved in a European Project on Enterprise Risk Management with colleagues in other EU member states. He has published his work in the Routledge Series on Banking and has also presented his research at several high-profile European accounting conferences - the latest work focusing particularly on the cognitive aspects of risk management. With a passion for pedagogics, he teaches on several courses both at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and has in the past created student support programs for international students
