The University Main Building

The University Main Building is the ‘centrepiece’ of Uppsala University. Here you will find the Grand Auditorium, which is host to the University’s academic ceremonies every year. Lectures, conferences and concerts are also held here.

Cajsas kök – Café Alma

History of the University Main Building

The Uppsala University Main Building was built in the 1880s and was officially opened on 17 May 1887. At that time, the entire university’s activities were housed in the building.
