Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

The research group in child and adolescent psychiatry studies how mental disorders develop, how they should be diagnosed and treated.

Description of our research

The research is based on a bio-psycho-social model where biological, psychological and social factors interact in the development of child psychiatric symptoms.

Risk and protective factors for mental disorders are investigated in both clinical and epidemiological studies. Psychological and biological mechanisms are studied, partly for the development of psychiatric symptoms, partly for the effect of treatment. The consequences of early-onset child psychiatric symptoms are investigated in long-term follow-ups. The research group works with development of diagnostic instruments and psychometrically evaluates these. We perform clinical trials and evaluate the effect of different treatments. The research is conducted in both international and national collaboration with other research groups.

Senior researchers within the group are Johan Isaksson, Ulf Jonsson, Vendela Zetterqvist, Matilda Frick, Vladislav Ruchkin and Mia Ramklint.

The group's research projects are presented based on relation to field of knowledge.
