Cecilia Josefsson är docent och universitetslektor vid Statsvetenskapliga institutionen, Uppsala universitet. Hennes forskningsintressen rör politiska institutioner och representation ur ett genusperspektiv.

Biografi
Cecilia Josefsson är docent och universitetslektor vid Statsvetenskapliga institutionen, Uppsala universitet. Hennes senaste bok, Defending the Status Quo: On Adaptive Resistance to Electoral Gender Quotas (Oxford University Press, 2024), tilldelades 2025 års Victoria Schuck Award av American Political Science Association (APSA) för bästa bok om kvinnor och politik. Boken utvecklar begreppet adaptivt motstånd för att analysera hur manliga politiska eliter i Uruguay strategiskt har reagerat på upprepade försök att införa en könskvoteringslag.
Cecilias forskning behandlar politiska institutioner och representation ur ett genusperspektiv i olika kontexter, bland annat i Afrika söder om Sahara, Latinamerika och Skandinavien. Hennes artiklar har publicerats i tidskrifter som Comparative Political Studies, Perspectives on Politics, Politics & Gender, International Political Science Review, Parliamentary Affairs, Representation och Politics, Groups, and Identities.
Hon disputerade vid Statsvetenskapliga institutionen, Uppsala universitet, år 2020. Hennes doktorsavhandling belönades med Joni Lovenduski PhD Prize 2023 från European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR).
Hennes pågående forskning handlar om kön och politiskt ledarskap i Sverige, motstånd mot jämställdhetsfrämjande institutionella förändringar samt kvinnors politiska representation i kölvattnet av samhällskriser.
