Recording available: GenAI in research – What are the ethical challenges?

How can we maintain research integrity in the age of generative AI?
On 15 October 2025, Sonja Bjelobaba gave a presentation on Generative AI in research and the ethical challenges involved as part of the Centre for Research Ethics & Bioethics' webinar series.

Sonja Bjelobaba is a researcher at the Centre for Research Ethics & Bioethics.
In her presentation, Sonja Bjelobaba examines the ethical issues that emerge from GenAI during the entire research lifecycle, from ideation to publication, discussing risks like bias, privacy violations, and fabricated outputs and using real-world examples and the European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity, to provide workable solutions and recommendations to make sure AI strengthens science rather than undermines it.
The presentation was based on the paper Maintaining research integrity in the age of GenAI: an analysis of ethical challenges and recommendations to researchers.
