Sustainable mobility 2026

We all have different ways of commuting. What is your daily commute like? Is it possible to make it quickly, comfortably and environmental friendly?

In order to promote a sustainable commute in the region of Uppsala, a commuter survey for all University staff was available in Ocotber 2025. As a member of Uppsala Climate Protocol, the University is able to partake in the survey.

Thanks to the result from the commuter survey, the University may take part of and offer relevant staff opportunities during 2026.

There are several commuter parking areas in Uppsala, in order to make it easier to walk, go by bus, bike or carpool the last mile to the city.

Here you find a list of commuter parking areas that the municipality takes care of:

  • Björklinge centrum
  • The Gnista round-about/Viktoria
  • Järlåsa station
  • Knutby school
  • Lindbacken
  • Skyttorp station – Western part and Eastern part
  • Storvreta station
  • Vattholma station Western part
  • Vänge

In order to promote carpooling, working teams and departments/equivalents may create chat groups, where staff may plan and participate together in sharing a seat in one's car, or to share tips and useful experiences that can help others.

TestTrampare

Would you like to take the bike to work, but also need more loading capacity than a normal bike offers? If you apply to the project TestTrampare you may be eligible to try either a cargo bike or an e-bike. Try a new bike this spring for three weeks without an extra cost.

The number of bikes is limited, and you may apply during March 23rd-27th.

Apply and read more about terms and conditions for the project TestTrampare (Uppsala kommun, in Swedish)
